James trained at Loma Linda University Medical School. He completed his residency at Loma Linda University and his Facial Plastic fellowship at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

He and his wife have four children.

What motivates your desire to give back?
My father always told me that when you give, you will receive greater in return. I have tried to follow these principles in my life and I must agree it works.

Why are you supporting the medical center?
I consider Mission Hospital my hospital. It’s where I get my care and I want to help ensure the facilities and tools are available to my colleagues, who will manage me as I age. It’s unfortunate that in the current state of healthcare there is not enough money to both provide care and to stay at the cutting edge of technology based on reimbursement alone.

Why did you agree to join the foundation board?
I rejoined the board to have an impact on future care and growth in my hospital.
