Mike is a Managing Partner of Section 32, a venture capital fund investing at the frontiers of technology, healthcare and life sciences. Previously, he served as CEO and Chairman of Foundation Medicine, as well as President and COO of Clarient. He brings a breadth of understanding in personalized medicine, with a particular interest and focus on defeating cancer.

What motivates your desire to give back?
When I look at the all of things that had to go right for me to achieve key milestones in my life, it’s clear that the interest and contribution from others was fundamental to so many of them. I want to make sure the cycle continues.

Why are you supporting the medical center?
Healthcare is a fundamental human right, and having access to high level care in one’s own backyard is an offshoot of this belief. Providing an investment of time, thought and money to something that supports such an important human right is quite worthwhile.

Why did you agree to join the Foundation board?
