What Inspires You?
Since opening in 2021, the Walter A. Craig Center for Palliative Care has made extraordinary strides, in offering advanced levels of palliative care.
The growth of the program, made possible by the estate of Walter A. Craig, offers specialized palliative care services to patients. With an expanded team of six full-time caregivers and two physicians, palliative care now has a presence throughout the hospital, providing education and training to multiple units.
A multidisciplinary team
Palliative care clinicians play a crucial role in our hospital’s efforts to optimally care for patients in the throes of major illnesses. While many medical centers limit their palliative care services to oncology departments, Providence Mission Hospital proudly fields referrals and sends its palliative care specialists to all departments of our nationally recognized hospital.Advancing clinical excellence
At Providence Mission Hospital, investing within our caregivers is essential in providing high quality patient care. We provide continuing education support for the palliative care team in partnership with national organizations, such as the Hospice and Palliative Nursing Association, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.Specialized care tailored to each patient
Beyond standard treatment, the palliative care team offers specialized care items to ease the way for patients, such as aromatherapy products or cookbooks for specific end-stage illnesses. During COVID when visitation was restricted, patients were able to utilize newly purchased iPads to connect with loved ones.A donation makes a difference. Here’s proof.
