Trauma care for adults and children
Providence Mission Hospital has been designated an Adult and Pediatric Level II Trauma Center. Through our partnership with Children’s Hospital of Orange County, CHOC Children’s at Mission is the only trauma center and emergency department in south Orange County designated to care for adolescents, children and infants.
Sue and Bill Gross Emergency Department at Laguna Beach
In the spring of 2019, we opened a renovated and expanded Sue and Bill Gross Emergency Department at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach — made possible through a landmark lead gift from the Gross family, and supported by other generous members of the local community through additional gifts and bequests. The department was expanded by 30 percent, allowing the addition of a brand-new triage space and six new examination rooms, all of which improved the patient experience and decreased wait times to an average of 20 minutes “from door to doctor.”
Emergency department expansion at Mission Viejo
With the proceeds from our 2019 Holiday Gala, as well as inspiration from an extraordinary act of philanthropic leadership by Eden and George O’Connell, we are completing the designs to expand our emergency department at Mission Viejo on a similar scale to that of Laguna Beach. With plans to begin construction in 2021, we look forward to expanding capacity, reducing wait times and improving the experience of our patients and caregivers alike.
