“When the hospital’s leadership approached us about helping to create a brand-new cancer institute, we knew immediately that it was a project worthy of our investment.”
Bringing world-class cancer care to the citizens of south Orange County
The Mission Hospital family celebrated an exciting day in November 2019, with the dedication of the Judi and Bill Leonard Institute for Cancer Prevention, Treatment and Wellness. Thanks to the generosity of the Leonard family, and other donors, our comprehensive cancer center established a place of new possibilities, hope and healing, ensuring South County residents have local access to specialized cancer care.
“Judi and I have always made it a priority to give back to our community. Being able to improve the lives of our friends and neighbors is a very meaningful source of joy for both us, Bill Leonard shares. “Our longstanding relationship with Mission Hospital has given us the opportunity to experience that joy more than we ever thought possible. When we support Mission Hospital, we are privileged to witness the innumerable ways that the hospital’s talented caregivers and amazing technologies help some of our most vulnerable community members recover, heal and thrive.”
“Mission Hospital has always been our family’s hospital,” Bill continues. “We have supported Mission and relied on its exceptional health care for decades. When the hospital’s leadership approached us about helping to create a brand-new cancer institute, we knew immediately that it was a project worthy of our investment. This institute represents an immense opportunity for our community, to bring world-class cancer care to all the citizens of south Orange County.”
“Through our involvement in this ambitious project, we have had the distinct pleasure and honor of connecting with the real heroes in 21st century cancer care – the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Judi and Bill Leonard Institute for Cancer Prevention, Treatment and Wellness. We have heard deeply moving stories from patients who routinely travel 2-3 hours for treatment while battling this horrible disease, and we are proud to be part of Mission Hospital’s efforts to eliminate that burden for cancer patients in our community. Seeing the impact that our cancer institute can have on the lives of patients like these and their families has been a profound experience for Judi and I. We could not be more thrilled with the scope and vision of the Leonard Cancer Institute at Mission Hospital, and we look forward to seeing its life-saving care benefit our friends and neighbors for many years to come.”
