Pioneering technology for superior patient care

The acquisition of the HistoSonics® Edison® System was a landmark development for our community. Last spring, Kevin Burns, M.D., and Ahmad Abou Abbass, M.D., performed the first histotripsy procedure using this innovative system, which uses high-intensity sound waves to destroy liver tumors. This noninvasive approach is a game changer for patients with liver cancer, offering a new avenue for treatment with minimal side effects.

Last year, Providence Mission Hospital made headlines when Quang Luu, M.D., performed the first Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) procedure using our new da Vinci single port robot. The da Vinci system allows surgeons, particularly otolaryngologists and urologists, to perform minimally invasive surgeries with remarkable precision. Providence Mission Hospital is one of the few hospitals in Orange County to offer a TORS program, which removes benign and malignant tumors of the mouth and throat.
