Providence Mission Hospital Welcomes New Chief Philanthropy Officer
Mission Viejo, CA. (January 5, 2023) — Providence Mission Hospital Foundation announces the appointment of Nicole Balsamo as chief philanthropy officer.
Joining Providence on January 9, 2023, Nicole will lead transformational fundraising initiatives to expand services and programs for the Providence Mission Hospital community.
“Nicole is a tremendous addition to the Providence Mission Hospital Foundation team,” said Seth Teigen, chief executive, Providence Mission Hospital. “A heart-centered leader with an outstanding track record, she’s a great fit for our culture and will be a key contributor to our future fundraising success. Her wealth of experience will support our ministry in continuing to elevate the great work we do in our community.”
Prior to joining Providence Mission Hospital Foundation, Nicole was the principal and founder of FreeBird Strategies, a Laguna Niguel consulting firm providing fundraising strategies for nonprofit CEOs. Previously, she served as Vice President of Development for Hoag Hospital Foundation, where she led a team of development professionals responsible for $133M in annual productivity and the successful completion of a $760M comprehensive campaign, surpassing its initial goal of $627M.

A true community advocate, she’ll lead the team in generating support for the people, services and programs that benefit the community most,” said Kenya Beckmann, chief philanthropy and health equity officer, Providence South Division.
A dedicated volunteer leader in her spare time, Nicole is a founding board member of Friends of El Faro which provides resources to an orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico. She also serves as an advisory board member for HoldYou Foundation, which provides financial support to families with children facing a medical crisis.
Nicole holds a master’s degree from Pennsylvania State University in Psychology of Leadership and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She lives with her husband, their two daughters, and the family’s French Bulldog in Laguna Niguel.
