Providence Mission Hospital designated one of America’s best thanks to philanthropic support

Congratulations to Providence Mission Hospital on receiving accreditation as a Center of Excellence for Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation. This prestigious accreditation recognizes that we are among the best in the country — thanks to our forward-thinking donors who have helped place leading-edge technology into the hands of our expert surgeons.

“This accreditation is truly an honor as it highlights our commitment to quality care that creates better outcomes for our community,” said Seth Teigen, chief executive.

“We have the surgical capability to elevate our prestigious programs to match what Orange County truly needs as a major metropolis,” says Jason Liauw, M.D., director of neurosurgery – Laguna Beach campus. “Robotic surgery reduces operative time and improves accuracy. It is slowly becoming mainstream as it is launching into various fields, such as spine and neuro. We are grateful for Providence and our community who champion the future of health care. Their support is allowing us to improve medicine, which has always been our driving force.”

Brian Y. Hwang, M.D., neurosurgeon reflects on this award saying, “Our relationship with the community is a direct partnership and we are proud to deliver on their needs and desires. This organization is unlike any other I have experienced — the difference is palpable — and it is because of our supporters. The voice of the community is truly amazing. We, as physicians, listen and want to deliver in an expeditious way.”

Surgical innovations brought to you by grateful patient donations

The hospital continues to build upon its robotics program to apply groundbreaking treatments more precisely and empower our clinical leaders to strive for surgical excellence. Thanks to the philanthropic support of our community, the Foundation acquired numerous surgical advances in the last year alone:

Auris MONARCH® Platform provides physicians the ability to see hard-to-reach nodules, helping detect and treat lung cancer at an earlier stage, dramatically improving survival rates.

Aquablation® System is a new surgical treatment for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. It uses a heat-free waterjet controlled by robotic technology to remove prostate tissue with no incision.

Xoft® Axxent® Electronic Brachytherapy System® with IORT Breast Applicators uses breakthrough technology to provide expanded treatment options for a range of cancers. The breast applicators direct the radiation dose to the size and shape of the cancerous area, sparing healthy tissue and organs.

You made it possible

Our future is bright in partnering with our donors who have helped bring us the latest advances in robotic surgery. We celebrate this accomplishment with you — because your support made this prestigious honor possible.
