Cultivating Compassion

Donna and Kurt Sabatasso offer gifts of health and healing to the hospital community

Donna and Kurt Sabatasso know what it means to nurture a relationship. Married for 40 years, the Coto de Caza couple has provided remarkable philanthropic support of Providence Mission Hospital since 2006. Both are treasured members of the Philanthropist Circle, as well as the Summit Society, which recognizes donors who have remembered the hospital in their estate plans.

Over the years, Donna has been involved with many fundraising groups that support Providence Mission Hospital. She has devoted time as a member of Valiant Women, the community group dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support the Women’s Wellness Center, Breast Health Center and Maternity Center, as well as nursing education scholarships through the Nursing Center of Excellence.

She has also served as a member of Camino Auxiliary, which for many years partnered with Providence Mission Hospital to meet the health care needs of uninsured and underinsured residents through Camino Health Center.

Together, Donna and Kurt have honored their family’s legacy by transforming Providence Mission Hospital through their support. In appreciation of their most recent gift to the Digestive Health Institute, a waiting room in the gastrointestinal care unit will be named in honor of their children Matthew and Megan.

“We are grateful to help Providence Mission Hospital provide health and relief to members of our community through this new comprehensive digestive health center,” the couple commented.

In addition, Donna and Kurt have demonstrated exceptional compassion as benefactors of the Sabatasso Healing Garden at the Leonard Cancer Institute. The garden, which honors the memories of their children, offers visitors a tranquil place for prayer and reflection.

“The entire Providence Mission Hospital family is deeply grateful for the gift of Donna and Kurt’s friendship. We thank God for all they have done and continue to do through the generous support to help us meet the medical needs of our community,” says John Miller, chief philanthropy officer.
